The Mühlbauer hat “Art Alessio” is from the “Tracht” series, meaning the traditional Austrian headwear collection. This hat combines shape, colours and stylistic details typical to traditional hats from the alpine region. Thus, the hat is decorated with a wide, green silk ribbon – the “Ausseer” ribbon, meaning it comes from the Bad Aussee region of Austria. The ribbon comes together in several folds at the back. This hat is made from parasisol straw, won from the fibres of the agave in South East Asia. It is a much-loved hat straw because it is lightweight, elastic and very robust. Mühlbauer used these characteristics to crush the hat. The crushed look is not just a stylistic detail, however, but allows this hat to be folded and packed in a bag – making it the perfect travel hat. A bendy wire has been inserted round the brim edge allowing you to style it as you wish.
